ABOUT MARUŠA

Maruša Zamorano is a fine art & documentary street photographer whose work is shaped by observation, time, and lived experience. Alongside her photographic practice, she works as a surgeon — a profession that has profoundly informed her way of seeing, grounding her work in patience, attention, and respect for quiet, often overlooked moments.

Her photographic and visual practice extends into professional commercial and lifestyle work through danielandmarusa.com, a photo and film studio she runs together with her husband, Daniel Zamorano Rojas. Their work develops through long-term collaboration, shared authorship, and a documentary approach to visual storytelling across photography and film.

Maruša lives in Slovenia and is the mother of two adult sons, Maj and Gašper, whose presence and perspectives are deeply interwoven with her life and work. She is the founder and director of Empatorij, a platform dedicated to developing the creative, personal, and professional potential of people with autism. Through Empatorij, she works closely with neurodivergent individuals, supporting inclusion, creativity, and meaningful participation — values that quietly inform her photographic practice.

A selection of Maruša Zamorano’s limited edition prints is also available at DMZ Boutique, a curated online store for art, scent, and neurodiverse work.

Across all fields of her work, photography remains a form of presence rather than performance — a way of staying attentive to people, places, and the spaces between moments.
